“This is not about what each province is building. We must look at this as a nation.”
That message from Energy Alberta’s Head of Power System Integration, Mike Law, set the tone for discussions on the future of Nuclear Energy during the opening panel of the 45th Annual Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) Conference in Calgary.

Law joined industry leaders from across Canada, including representative from Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power, NB Power and the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), providing attendees with a snapshot of the projects, opportunities and challenges shaping Canada's evolving nuclear industry.

Representing Energy Alberta, Law provided a project briefing on the Peace River Nuclear Power Project, which would be Western Canada's first large-scale nuclear generating station.
Law emphasized that projects being advanced across Canada represent an opportunity to strengthen the country's energy future through cooperation between industry, governments and regulators.
"We must focus on strengthening our nation’s electricity system within a coordinated environment across all of Canada," Law added.
Throughout the discussion, panelists reinforced a similar message: meeting Canada's growing electricity needs will require continued momentum in the nuclear sector, supported by strong partnerships and collaboration across organizations, provinces and projects.
