Let's Build the Future Together: Share Your Thoughts on the Initial Project Description

April 30, 2025

We are excited to announce a major step toward a more sustainable energy future for Alberta — and we want to work with you every step of the way.

We recently submitted our Initial Project Description (IPD) to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) for the proposed Peace River Nuclear Project, which aims to diversify Alberta’s energy portfolio by providing safe, secure and affordable electricity while creating jobs and economic opportunities.

As we move forward with our plans, we are reaching out to you. Your local, regional or Indigenous knowledge of the site or surrounding environment is important at this stage to help IAAC and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission prepare a summary of issues that Energy Alberta will respond to as part of the next stage in the process.

How You Can Get Involved

Energy Alberta is committed to building strong, lasting relationships with Indigenous communities, local residents, businesses and all those who call this region home.

As part of the impact assessment process, you are invited to review the Summary of the Initial Project Description on the IAAC website and share your feedback.

Your thoughts — based on your experience, your traditions, your understanding of the environment — will help inform the assessment and guide the next stages of the Project.

A Shared Path Forward

At Energy Alberta, we believe in collaboration, respect and transparency. We’re not just proposing to build a project — we’re building relationships and a shared vision for the future.

We are committed to working hand-in-hand with Indigenous Nations and Communities and local community members and businesses to ensure the proposed Project is guided by the values, hopes and knowledge of the people who know this land best.

Together, let’s build a clean energy future we can all be proud of.
