“Canada’s ability to remain competitive depends on secure, reliable energy systems built with Canadian expertise. The Green Ribbon Panel is focused on turning that principle into practical policy,” said Scott Henuset, President & CEO of Energy Alberta.
At a time when energy security and economic resilience are more closely linked than ever, Henuset has joined the Green Ribbon Panel - a national coalition of leaders working to advance practical, made-in-Canada energy solutions that strengthen Canada’s competitiveness and long-term prosperity.
“Canada needs policies that unlock real projects, real jobs and real economic value. The Green Ribbon Panel is focused on exactly that - providing governments with actionable recommendations that will strengthen Canada’s energy systems, said Henuset”
Formed in 2020, the Green Ribbon Panel brings together business, labour, civic and policy leaders from across the country. Its mission is clear: to champion secure, reliable and affordable Canadian energy - including nuclear - while positioning Canada as a global clean energy superpower. Through research, outreach and collaboration, the Panel works to ensure Canada has a strong, united voice in shaping the future of energy.
These priorities closely align with Energy Alberta’s work advancing the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project, which would provide Alberta with a long-term source of clean, dependable and affordable electricity.
“Nuclear energy plays a unique role in delivering round-the-clock, low-emission power,” said Henuset. “Projects like the Peace River Nuclear Power Project demonstrate how Canadian expertise can support both climate goals and long-term economic opportunity - especially when developed thoughtfully and in partnership with communities and Indigenous Nations.”
In September 2025, the Panel launched a 100-day action plan offering targeted recommendations to the Government of Canada ahead of the fall budget. These included completing Investment Tax Credits, advancing energy as industrial policy, strengthening Indigenous engagement capacity and positioning critical infrastructure for long-term success - priorities that were reflected in Budget 2025: Canada Strong.
Henuset’s involvement reinforces Energy Alberta’s commitment to contributing constructively to national energy conversations and policy development.
“Canada has an opportunity to lead - not just in clean energy ambition, but in execution,” Henuset said. “By aligning smart policy with Canadian expertise, we can build an energy future that is secure, competitive and delivers lasting benefits for communities across the country.”
