Energy Alberta’s Community Cares Crew: Neighbours Supporting Neighbours

May 28, 2026

Being part of a community means showing up for one another - and that spirit is at the heart of Energy Alberta’s Community Cares Crew.

This winter, our Crew volunteered 292 hours helping our neighbours across the region.

Our team spent time helping seniors in Grimshaw, Berwyn, the MD of Peace and Peace River. From clearing snow to helping the local Rotaract prepare the ice trail for community use, the goal was simple: lend a hand where it was needed most.

Tracey Halerewich, Director of Community Services for the Town of Grimshaw, praised the efforts of the Community Cares Crew and the impact the initiative had during a record-breaking winter season.

“We are proud of the compassion, dedication and community spirit shown by Energy Alberta’s workers through their involvement in this much-needed service for our seniors,” said Halerewich.

She noted that after an especially heavy snowfall season, the support provided by the crew helped ensure long-standing members of the community could continue to safely access their homes, community spaces, and essential services.

The team also supported preparations for the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships by helping repair outdoor pond hockey tents used during the event. Community gatherings and local traditions are an important part of life in the Peace Region, and we were proud to play a small role in helping the event come together.

At Energy Alberta, we believe community engagement is about showing up, building relationships and contributing where we can. We are proud to have team members who care deeply about the communities they are part of and the people who call the Peace Region home.

As the region moves into spring and summer, communities prepare for another busy season of local events and outdoor festivities. Our team looks forward to connecting with residents at local events and through sponsorship opportunities and community engagement activities across the region.
